Cost guide
What a Pickleball Court Actually Costs in Florida
Pickleball is the fastest-growing build request we get, from backyard singles courts to municipal banks of eight. Costs start in the low five figures for a straightforward backyard court and scale with site conditions, court count and finish level — here's what actually moves the number.
The three builds
Backyard court. A regulation 20'×44' court with playing margins on a new concrete pad, acrylic surfacing, net and lines. The pad and its base are most of the cost — which is exactly as it should be, because the pad is what cracks when it's done cheap.
Club or community court. Post-tensioned concrete or engineered asphalt, cushioned acrylic systems, fencing, lighting, shade. Cost per court drops meaningfully when you build several at once — mobilization and sitework spread across the bank.
Municipal complex. Add stormwater engineering, ADA routes, parking and permitting. This is where FRDAP funding often enters the picture for cities.
What drives cost in Florida specifically
- Ground movement and moisture: our soils and water table punish thin slabs. Proper base prep and, where warranted, post-tensioning is the difference between a 20-year court and a 5-year crack map.
- UV and heat: quality acrylic systems with proper cure windows last; bargain coatings chalk and peel.
- Drainage: even a backyard court needs a plan for where summer rain goes.
Where cheap courts fail
Almost always underground: skipped compaction, thin slabs, no moisture management. The coating gets blamed; the base was the crime. It's why we quote the whole system, itemized, rather than a surface price on top of hope.
